Steve Armbrust brings a pastoral perspective to the ministry. Steve has worked as a Children’s Pastor and has experience in youth ministry. For the past 30 years, Steve has served in full-time church leadership. He is currently the Adult Ministry Director at Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alpharetta. Steve studied sociology, theology and also has a degree in Christian education. He can even sing and play the guitar. Steve lives in Alpharetta with his wife, Jenni and has 4 adult children.
Brian Clark is the Chairman for Act Together Ministries. He also provides marketing and graphic design services to the ministry. Brian operates and supervises 22 newspapers throughout the metro Atlanta area as the Managing Editor of Neighbor Newspapers. He is a member of the Roswell Rotary Club and has been a guest speaker for several local community groups. Brian graduated from Oglethorpe University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and rhetoric studies. Mr. Clark founded First Hand Ministries, an Internet ministry that serves as an umbrella for a network of Christian outreach websites. Brian has served as a discipleship leader at Perimeter Church and a children’s Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Atlanta. Brian and his wife, Heather, are members at The Vine Community Church in Cumming. The Clarks live in Alpharetta. Prior to his work in journalism, Brian and his wife served as apartment missionaries for Apartment Life Ministries.
Robert Covington serves as the Vice-Chair for Act Together Ministries. Robert is a local community business leader and has more than 25 years of experience in technology and operations management. Robert served as the president of Church Growth Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on the growth of local churches, and was a board member of Senior Housing Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable and high quality senior housing. Mr. Covington also worked as an Audio Engineer for Perimeter Church for nearly 20 years and has served in various aspects of church leadership including book keeping, church Treasurer, and supervising the technical ministry. Robert resides in Norcross and is an active member at Christ Church Presbyterian in Buckhead.
Cleve Hill provides legal counsel for Act Together Ministries. Cleve is a managing partner of Bettis, Hill, and Vann, LLC. in Alpharetta. The law firm offers estate planning, probate, guardianships, conservatorships, tax exempt entities, and business formation. Cleve is a member of the Windward Rotary Club. He graduated magna cum laude from Oglethorpe University in 2001 and then went on to obtain his law degree from Mercer University. He became an attorney in 2004. Mr. Hill resides in Canton with his wife, Allie, and daughter, Olivia. The Hills attend First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Cleve remains active at his alma mater where he currently serves as President of the Oglethorpe University Alumni Association and a Trustee for the Board of Trustees.
Doug Hooper handles our bookkeeping and accounting. Doug served as VP Operations and U.S. Head of Finance at UCB, a global pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor. Prior to UCB, he led finance offices at AT&T for about 10 years. Most recently he was enlisted to build the finance/accounting infrastructure at Dew Learning. Doug started the financial coaching ministry at Perimeter Church. He holds an MBA in International Business and has over 20 years of experience in financial and operational expertise. He is passionate about helping those in need and serves as the Act Together board Treasurer..
James Turbyfill serves as the secretary for Act Together Ministries, and with his wife Brooke, is part of the Act Together Ministries Prayer Team. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Studio Arts. James has a background in customer relations and marketing, and works for a promotional marketing company, Pure Marketing Group. He serves on the worship team at the Creek Vineyard Church in Johns Creek. James is active in his neighborhood, serving as the Home Owners Association President. He and Brooke are small group leaders for their neighborhood-based community group, and they have two children, Brandon and Lyla. The Turbyfills reside in Johns Creek.
Jon Adams is the pastor of The Vine Community Church in Cumming. Jon has a doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary. Jon served as the lead pastor at Parkview Church in Lilburn for 12 years before starting The Vine Community Church in 2002. Jon and his wife, Liz Anne have 2 grown daughters.
Cheryl Baker is a published author, Bible teacher, trainer, and ministry coach. Cheryl served as the Women’s Ministry Director at Perimeter Church in Johns Creek for over 10 years. Cheryl has worked with the Salvation Army and churches throughout the country. Cheryl and her husband, Tom live in Huntington Beach, CA. They have 6 children and 5 grandchildren.
Matt Ballard is the lead pastor at Southpointe Community Church in Nashville, TN. Matt graduated from Covenant Seminary and has worked in multiple church and ministry positions. Prior to joining Southpointe, Matt worked as teaching pastor at Perimeter Church in Johns Creek. Matt and his wife, Chrissy have three daughters. The Ballards reside in Nashville, TN.
Janet Kitchens brings years of experience serving with local non-profits and serving on boards. Janet is a business owner and community leader. Mrs. Kitchens is an active member at Concord Baptist Church, the Veteran’s Alliance, Gideon’s Ladies Auxiliary, Autism Speaks and the Miracle League. She is an award winning Realtor and former President of the 400 North Board of Realtors. Janet and her husband, Walter reside in Forsyth county. They have two grown daughters and two grandsons.
Vally Sharpe is a leader in the non-profit community. She is the former marketing director for Rainbow Village, a housing program for homeless families in Duluth. Vally is a published author with years of experience consulting non-profits, writing grant proposals, database development and management, and serving as a marketing advisor. Prior to her work with non-profits, Vally worked as a psychotherapist for over 12 years. Vally is an Episcopalian. She currently runs United Writers Press and resides in Atlanta.
Mark Wells provides legal expertise to the Act Together board.He is an attorney in Norcross . Mark graduated from Rhodes College in 1987 and Emory University of Law in 1990. He has tried more than 35 jury trials in the area of personal injury, criminal and divorce. He has his own practice in Norcross (Law Offices of Mark L. Wells, P.C.) He is a member of the Gwinnett Bar Association, Alliance Defense Fund, and Christian Legal Society . Mark serves as an elder and discipleship team leader at Perimeter Church in Johns Creek. Mr. Wells resides in Norcross with his wife, Ann and son, Nate.
